New to First Christian Church? Wondering what to expect? Let us answer a few of your questions...
How long is the service?

A normal worship service lasts approximately 1 hour, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

What do I need to know about taking communion?

As Disciples of Christ, we welcome everyone to the table every Sunday. We pass trays and you are invited to take the cracker and juice cup as it is passed. Whether you take communion or not is up to you. There's no judgement here.

Do you have a dress code?

We welcome everyone to come in what you feel comfortable wearing. While some people like to dress in something you could wear to the office others prefer something more casual. You'll be welcome whether you dress up or come straight from the gym. Here are some examples from a typical Sunday service:

What's the music like?

If you come the first and second Sundays, it is traditional with an organ or piano as accompaniment. The third Sunday is Youth Sunday and may be traditional, contemporary, or blended. The fourth Sunday of each month is led by the Praise Team.

This year our Praise Team will be leading worship on Palm Sunday, March 24, along with our youth. Easter Sunday will be a blended service.

Special music is a delightful mix that depends on the person performing. We've had instrumentalists, contemporary vocalists accompanied by sound tracks, traditional vocal performers accompanied by instruments, recordings, dramatic readings and a young person who painted a landscape to a sound track. Each Sunday promises something new.

Here are a few short video clips to give you some examples:

What are the services like?

Surprising! Seriously. Pastor Gina loves to change things up...

And sometimes we get to surprise Pastor Gina...

Do you have child care or youth programs?

Our children and youth program is small, but growing, and we're always looking for new ways to make that connection to the upcoming generation.

The third Sunday of each month is Youth Sunday. Our youth participate fully in the service from worship leader to speaking at the communion table to serving communion and performing special music.

We have a nursery available and volunteers who are ready to provide child care during worship service so parents can focus on being in the Spirit without the worry of fidgets and boredom from active children.
