Who We Are
We’re a small, warm congregation in the heart of Maryville, Missouri — and we’ll be honest with you: we’re not a megachurch, we don’t have all the answers, and we’re not trying to be anything we’re not. What we are is a genuine community of people who show up for each other, ask honest questions about faith, and believe that Love is always worth gathering around.

Most of us are in our 50s, 60s, and beyond. We’ve lived enough life to know that faith is complicated, that doubt is normal, and that a church should feel like a safe place — not a place where you have to pretend.
If you’ve been away from church for a while — or if you’ve never quite felt like you belonged in one — we’d like to think FCC might surprise you.
What We Believe
We hold our theology gently. You won’t find rigid dogma or political litmus tests here. What you will find is a community rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus, with an open mind and an open door.

We are part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination, a progressive tradition that emphasizes grace, inclusion, and the freedom of each individual to seek their own relationship with God.
What a Sunday Looks Like
Sunday worship at FCC is a blend of the familiar and the fresh. You might hear a classic hymn alongside a contemporary song, a thoughtful reflection alongside a moment of quiet. It’s unhurried. It’s real.

We’ll also be the first to admit that things don’t always go according to plan — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. When the microphone squeals, someone loses their place in the hymnal, or the technology decides to have a moment, we laugh. Together. Because we’re down-to-earth people who enjoy life with all its surprises and aren’t too precious about our own human foibles. If you’re looking for a perfectly polished production, we’ll lovingly point you down the road. If you’re looking for genuine people who don’t take themselves too seriously, you’re going to fit right in.

We welcome a rotation of guest speakers to our pulpit — pastors, teachers, and thoughtful voices from a variety of backgrounds. We’ve found that hearing different perspectives enriches our faith rather than fragmenting it. The heart of FCC has always been its people, and that hasn’t changed.

Service time: 10:30 am
Sunday School: 9:30 am — a warm, open discussion for adults who like to go a little deeper.

We also livestream every Sunday on Facebook, so you’re welcome to visit from your couch first. No pressure.
A Place for Everyone — Really
We believe faith is fundamentally about how we treat one another — with kindness, dignity, and grace. That’s the standard we try to live by, and it shapes the kind of community we want to be.
At FCC, you won’t be asked where you stand on the issues of the day. You won’t be preached at about politics. What you will find is a community that takes seriously the call to love your neighbor — whoever that neighbor is, wherever they come from, whatever they carry with them.
If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t quite fit the mold of a typical church — or if you’ve been hurt by a church experience in the past — we want you to know: this is a place where you can breathe. No judgment. No pressure. No prerequisites.
Just people trying to do their best and extend the same grace to others that they hope to receive themselves.
Who Comes to FCC?
Retired teachers. Veterans. Artists. Empty nesters. Lifelong Christians and people who aren’t sure what they believe anymore. People who grew up in church and people who didn’t. What we have in common is that we’d rather ask good questions together than pretend we have easy answers alone.

We’re not a young, hip church. We’re not trying to be. We’re a community of seasoned, caring people who still find meaning in gathering, in music, in shared meals, and in showing up for one another. If that sounds like something you’ve been missing, the door is open.
